I Won’t Marginalize Any Tribe or Region – President Buhari

In what seems like a shift from the earlier position of President Buhari that he will give more to the region that gave him more votes and less to the region that gave him less votes, the President has said that he will not marginalize anyone on basis of his tribal or regional affiliations.

It would be recalled that certain statements credited to the President has been described in some quarters as unstatemanly and least expected of a President many believe should be a social balancer and a promoter of social cohesion and national unity.

It is believed that some of those statements have further worsen the silken frail unity of the nation as the 2015 general elections stirred divisions along ethnic, religious and regional lines which saw many Nigerians questioning the reality of the nation’s purported unity.

Not long after the remarks of giving more to those that gave him more and less to those that gave him less, the separatist agitations in South East and South South region raged fiercely.

But today, Nigerians can be sure that the President is not a regional champion but a nationalist who has promised to be fair to all Nigerians irrespective of regional, tribal or religious affiliations.

The President gave the assurance at the palace of the Emir of Daura, Dr. Farouk Umar Farouk during the breaking of Ramadan fast.  He assured the royal home that Nigerians would be treated equal despite the region or religion they came from.

Accompanied by the Governor of Katsina, Aminu Bello Masari, and that of Zamfara State, AbdulAziz Yari Abubakar, who later addressed a crowd of people thanked the Emir for honor done to him.

Speaking in Hausa language, the president said that under his watch, no section of the country will either be discriminated or marginalized, urging the people to continue to pray for the unity of the country.

The event also attracted the Deputy Governor, the SSG and speaker of the Katsina State Assembly and many Traditional title holders which featured special prayers, peace, unity, stability and sustainable development of the country.
