Acting President Yemi Osibanjo has assented to two bills. One is the bill establishing the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and the Petroleum Training Institute Amendment Act.
While the act establishing Diaspora Commission places its supervision under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the amendment to the Petroleum Training Institute is targeted to strengthen activities and programmes of the institute.
In a press statement which was issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang in Abuja on Monday, Senator Enang said that with the amendment, the PTI provisions were no longer in contradistinction with the 1999 constitution.
“The Petroleum Training Institute amendment act is to bring the provisions thereof in conformity with the Constitution, allowing for due process in the administrative action affecting the principal officers and staff of the Institute”, the statement said.
