The Corp Marshal and Chief Executive Office of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi has reiterate the commission’s commitment towards promoting safety standards on Nigerian roads under construction through adequate safety measures, notice and warning signage along roads currently under construction by the Federal Government. The Corp Marshal promised to ensure that commuters do not suffer extreme hardship on the roads as a result of the on-going works in many Nigerian roads.
He applauded the Federal Government for resumption of work on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, alongside other major roads across the country, following the recent mobilisation of the contractors as the move will drastically reduce road mishaps.
Dr. Oyeyemi stated this during a joint meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Works, Power and Housing and the two construction companies handling the road project, Julius Berger Plc and RCC. Dr. Oyeyemi, according to a press release by the Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem, expressed satisfaction with the commitment made by the construction companies to observe safety standards in the construction areas and pledge to work hand in hand with them to promote safety standards, warning signage and enforcement of compliance.
Oyeyemi, who was represented at the meeting by the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Policy, Research and Statistics, Dr Kayode Olagunju, added that FRSC would ensure road users were saved from undue hardship occasioned by the on-going construction.
