The Africa International College (AIC), today held her first Book Fair to encourage and improve the low reading culture of Nigerian Students.
The Principal, AIC, Mr. Mike Salasa while addressing Journalists at the school auditorium said the maiden edition of the Book Fair was organized by the School Management as students who read do better in their course of study, advised students to take reading as an habit, ‘ what we know is that students who read do well in their exams and be able to stand high among thier contemporary, if Nigerian students truly want to get to the head, they truly want to be future leaders, not just Nigerian leaders, they need to read’.
The students of the school who applauded the initiative of the management organizing a book fair said the fair could not have come at a better time than now, ‘ we are really excited because this fair gives opportunities for us to get to examine and read different books especially those that has low attitude to reading, we are really encouraged by what our school has done today’.
Meanwhile, the Library Prefect, AIC, Ochere Favour call on the school management to equip the library with modern day materials ‘ we need more books, some of the books that we have are obsolete, they need to be updated’.
Similarly, one of the of the parent who graced the occasion, Mrs. Adepoju Folashade also call on Nigerian parents to teach thier children early on good and constant reading, an act which will build and make them better leaders of tomorrow ‘ before you can get people to read and great leaders today, you have to catch them when they are young which the school has organized because when they develop the habit of reading from toddlers it won’t be difficult to maintain when they reach adulthood and this will make them not to be unduly influenced while making our country better also’.
