FUTMINNA Crises:  Non-students hijacked Students’ peaceful protest -NANS

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in its submission regarding the protest that led to the burning of the School clinic has revealed that the protest earlier embarked by the students was hijacked by non-students hoodlums.

Comrade(Amb.) Olamide Odumusu, NANS National Vice President who met the management of FUTMINNA made the assertion even as he thanked the students for their peaceful conducts and maturity during the crises.

Comrade Odumusu further thanked everyone for the co-operation received since the sad events that took place at the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA).

“NANS FUTMINNA leadership ably led by Comr. (Amb). Olamide Odumusu met with the management of FUTMINNA  and deliberated on the remote causes of the riot, investigations so far and the way forward was adopted by the University authority. Investigations revealed that the protest organised by the peaceful students of FUTMINNA was hijacked by non-students”

The meeting ended with resolution that all issues that led to the shutdown of the school have been resolved and that the school would soon be re-opened for studies.  Comrade Odumusu further thanked the security agencies for their timely response which saved further facilities from being destroyed by the non-student hoodlums.

While advising the students to continue to remain calm and get prepared for their resumption, he encouraged them to mourn the death of their colleague, friend and brother Yeye Olamilekan Emmanuel with every sense of sobriety and submission to God’s will.

“We join the University to mourn the death of our colleague, friend and brother, Yeye Olamilekan Emmanuel. And we pray to God to prevent such occurrence in future. He was a hero worth our mourning”
