Nigeria Customs Service promotion exams:  Why DC Nike Oladunni is ineligible

Concerned Officers of Nigeria Customs Service have threatened a show down with the power brokers within the service who they allege violates laid down rules and standards of operations for personal financial benefits.  This follows the recent announced promotion interview where DC Nike Oladunni was among the senior officers who took part in the exercise.

The officers allege that DC Nike Oladunni is not eligible going by the circular of 26th September, 2016 with ref. no. HRD/2016/032 signed by the Deputy Comptroller General, Human Resources Department on behalf of the Comptroller General of Customs.

The officers wondered why those that should be the custodians of the laws and rules of the Service violate same for monetary benefits going by the allegation that DC Nike bribed the DCGs with N25m to clear her for the promotion examinations and interview.  The officers further allege that the 2016 interview for promotion in Abuja was facilitated for DC Nike Oladunni through the help of DCG Banke Adeyemo who passed the N25m largesse from DC Nike to other DCGs

Part of the eligibility requirement/examination guideline and criteria stipulates that the following categories of staff are not eligible for promotion exams and interviews:

  • Suspended officers
  • Interdicted officers
  • Officers with pending disciplinary cases
  • Officers without the requisite qualification, among others.

They allege that DC Nike Oladunni in 2009 was indicted in a drug-related case when some cocaine traffickers who were caught for their nefarious activities upon interrogation confessed that Dike Oladunni is a member of their facilitators and cartel.  But for the intervention of the former CG of Customs Dikko Abdullahi, DC Nike would have rotted away in jail.  DC Nike was one of the allies of the former CG who was the go-between officer for the former CG of Customs Dikko Abdullahi and some armed importers.

The officers further allege that DC Nike Oladunni who go by different names brought the service to public ridicule by making false claim of indemnity from Leadway Assurance with a name different from what was insured when one of her choice property was engulfed by fire in Lagos.  A case that received wide media coverage that brought NCS to disrepute.

They further frowned at the service leadership nonchalant attitude that allowed DC Nike to be using official car belonging to Comptroller Mera {Rtd} flying the Service flag even as an intermediate officer.

DC Nike Oladunni is allegedly being investigated currently for fraud, impunity and official corruption.

All efforts to get DC Nike Oladunni to address the issues raised by her colleagues were unsuccessful as calls and texts made to her line were not responded to.
